Cyclops, also known as Scott Summers, is a prominent character in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with the X-Men. He first appeared in *X-Men* #1 (September 1963).
Cyclops possesses the mutant ability to emit powerful optic blasts from his eyes. These beams are not lasers, heat rays, or any form of energy of the electromagnetic spectrum. They emanate from another dimension, which Cyclops' body accesses and directs through his eyes. He cannot control the beams without special ruby-quartz lenses or visor, which block the energy.
